Day 1, Done!

Wednesday, March 2, 2011

We successfully navigated an international flight to Moscow, a domestic flight from Moscow to St. Petersburg, a bus from the SPB airport to the metro station, and the metro itself, and checked into the Nevsky Grand. We unloaded all our stuff, got cleaned up from our travels (man, does a shower feel good after over 24 hours on various forms of transportation), and went out to eat. We took it slow, and went to a local Irish pub, so as to ease our transition into unknown territory. The food was delicious!

Thoughts on the hotel:
- Unexpected plusses: heated bathroom floors, no street noise (because the street its on is torn up and being rebuilt)
- Downsides: Hard to remember not to use tap water for brushing our teeth

Tomorrow: Railway museum and St. Isaac's Cathedral
